Game won't start

Postby sebly » Thu Aug 01, 2013 7:02 am

Just bought this on steam, when I try to launch the game I get a general windows error 'Program has stopped working'.

When I click on details this is what it says.

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

My system is running win 7, 64 bit. Core is 2.66, 8 gig ddr3, radeon 6980hd. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be great.

I'm currently running 13.4 version of catalyst. I'm going to try the beta 13.6 drivers to see if that changes anything.

Hi, sorry to hear that. Can you grab the Crash Log named "GameCrash.txt" in the game's install directory. This should be located in your SteamApps folder under:
SteamApps/common/Skulls of the Shogun/GameCrash.txt . (You can also find the location by right clicking the game shortcut in steam, go to Properties, Local Files tab, then click Browse Local Files...)
- Attach this file to your post using the "Upload Attachment" button under the post body.

Also, it would help if you could run DxDiag and attach the log to your post.
To do this:
- Hit the Windows key and type "dxdiag" (no quotes) into the search box, hit Enter.
- Press the "Save All Information" button near the bottom of the window, save to a location.
- Attach the file to your post using the "Upload Attachment" button under the post body.

Thanks!

Here's my Dxdiag file. There doesn't appear to be a gamcerash.txt file in the skulls of shogun steam folder.

I even did a windows search of the folder and it came up with nothing. I'm going to assume it didn't create the file because the game never even loaded. It's just crashing immediately upon double clicking the game in the steam list.

Edit: It's not letting me attach the file. Says the extension txt is not allowed...can I email it to you?

[posting here for anyone who comes across it]

appears to be resolved by manually installing XNA.
